Dr. “Snuffy” Myers, a world renowned prostate cancer medical oncologist, was Director of the Cancer Center at the University of Virginia (UVA) in Charlottesville, Virginia and specializing in prostate cancer research when he was diagnosed with aggressive, metastatic prostate cancer in 1999.

 

He consulted with the leading experts in each aspect of his disease, decided what the best treatment was for each aspect, got and has kept his cancer in remission.

 

In 2002 he left UVA to set up, and be Director of, the American Institute for Diseases of the Prostate.

Dr. Myers tailors treatment according to the needs of each patient, based on his knowledge of the disease and his own experience as a patient.

 

Partly due to the vested interest in his own disease, Dr. Myers stays aware of the latest developments in all aspects of prostate cancer.
